The Roles Assigned from Your Family

In our families, we wear many hats. We take on roles and identities in order to be in relationship with each other as well as to ensure the smooth functioning of the family as a whole unit. 

 

Some of these roles are wonderful, ie. the caregiver, the nurturer, the rescuer, the manager, the fixer, the provider, the jester. And some of theses roles are not so wonderful, ie. the scapegoat, the controller, the target, the black sheep, the problem, the complainer, the screw up. 

 

We run into problems with both the good roles and the negative roles when we develop an identity with them and they become a fixed part of our personality. We find ourselves at the mercy of these roles and all the encumbrances that come with them.

 

The goal of our session is to liberate ourselves from any confinement of our independent spiritual nature which comes as a result of any fixed identities bestowed upon us from our families and which we have taken on knowingly and unknowingly.
